Today the Aircraft Enthusiasts Group of WA (AEGWA) made a visit to the recently opened Maylands Aerodrome Commerative Park in Maylands. The above photos show how the memorial looks.

The Maylands Aerodrome Commemorative Park,  on Peninsular Road Maylands was officially opened on Saturday 10th November 2012, in front of eighty people adjacent to the old Maylands Aerodrome.

After an introduction by the Mayor of the City of Bayswater, Mr Terry Gaunt of the Maylands and Peninsula Historical Society gave a brief history on the aerodrome, and as he was speaking a solo DH-82 Tiger Moth flown by pilot Kevin Bailey flew overhead to the crowds delight.

The centrepiece of the memorial is an outline of a Bristol Tourer set in seven metre concrete circle, a pathway around the centrepiece contains 15 information plaques that refer to organizations and the noteable people who flew out of Maylands between 1924 and 1963.
