Fog at Perth Airport diverts two Air Asia flights

Air Asia X A330-343X 9M-XXA on final approach into Perth

as flight 'XAX237D' ex: Adelaide

A blanket of fog covering Perth Airport, City of Perth & suburbs today resulted in two early morning Air Asia & Air Asia X international arrivals from Denpasar Bali & Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia being diverted to Kalgoorlie & Adelaide.

Flight AWQ8410 operated by A320-216 PK-AXI msn 3963 diverted to Kalgoorlie at 04.44hrs after being unable to land at Perth, the aircraft arriving into Kalgoorlie at 05.23hrs. The aircraft departed KGI at 08.39hrs & arrived into Perth at 09.28hrs. The outbound return service to Denpasar, Bali flight AWQ8411 departed at 20.50hrs allowing for crew rest hours.

Flight XAX236 operated by A330-343X 9M-XXA msn 952 diverted to Adelaide (SA) at 05.36hrs after attempts to land at Perth failed, the aircraft departing at 05.36hrs to Adelaide (YPAD).

The A330 departed Adelaide (YPAD) at 11.08hrs (CST) for Perth, arriving at 12.25hrs landing RWY21. The outbound service to Kuala Lumpur flight 'XAX237' departed at 13.53hrs.

This mornings Singapore Airlines 'SQ225/224' services operated by B777-212 (ER) 9V-SQM did arrive & depart as scheduled at 05.56hrs in & 08.09hrs out.
