Etihad Airways B787-9 A6-BLJ flight EY487 returns to Perth after clear air turbulence incident
Etihad Airways flight EY487 which departed from Perth Airport to Abu Dhabi today at 17.14hrs, returned back to Perth Airport after experiencing clear air turbulence off the coast of Western Australia near Geraldton lasting for up to 10 mins.
After trying different altitudes to improve the in-flight conditions which appeared to be worse at lower levels the aircraft A6-BLJ c/n 39657 returned to Perth Airport after declaring the flight unsafe to continue landing RWY03 at 18.42hrs after a flight time of 1hrs.43mins.
Passengers & crew were over nighted in Perth hotels & the passengers were accommodated onto alternative flights to get to there destination.
Flight EY487D departed Perth Intl Airport (YPPH) at 05.36hrs Saturday 9th September, returning to Abu Dhabi empty after the aircraft was given the green light after engineers concluded a safety inspection & the aircraft was safe to fly.
