Thai Air Asia X's expansion into North Asia & Australia in 2014.
Low cost carrier Air Asia X has received approval of its Thai Air Operator License from the country’s ministry of transport, taking it a step closer to the establishment of its first international hub outside Kuala Lumpur in Bangkok in 2014.
Final approval of the Air Operators Certificate is expected by end of 2013, after which Thai Air Asia X will be able to commence operations, with a focus on flying to long-haul destinations in North Asia and Australia.
“Passenger traffic from destinations in these markets to Bangkok is very high, largely leisure travelers, and primarily served by higher-cost full service airlines,” chief executive Azran Osman-Rani said. “Thai Air Asia X expects to significantly grow tourist arrivals to Thailand.”
