West Australian Regional Airline, Skippers Aviation took delivery today of their latest Dash-8:315Q aircraft registered C-GLPG msn 588, after a delivery flight from Canada & across the Pacific Ocean & mainland Australia. Landing on RWY 21 at 17.05hrs 29th July, having had departed earlier today from Cairns at 08.50hrs (AEST) where the aircraft arrived into the country from yesterday afternoon at 14.38hrs 28th July from Majuro. Interesting to note that underneath the aircraft's port hand side wing was the VH regististration assigned VH-XKJ.
The aircraft's trans Pacific flight commenced from Petersborough (CYPQ) in Canada then via the following stops: Gerald R Ford Intl (KGRR), Buchanan Field (KCCR), Honolulu (PHNL), Majuro Agata Airport, Marshall Islands (PKMJ). This aircraft previously operated with Denim Air until Sept 2002 & Air Nostrum until June 2011 as EC-IIB.

The aircraft crossed the West Australian coast near Lake Clifton south of Dawesville tracking 95 degrees, at FL350 and was travelling at 535.6 knots. Qantas Airways B747-438 VH-OJN msn 25315 arrived into Perth at 13.05hrs ex: Sydney as flight QF63 a scheduled 'tech stop' en-route to Johannesburg, South Africa. The aircraft carrying a 5th pod (Rolls Royce RB-211engine) for disabled B747-438 VH-OJL which suffered #3 engine overheating soon after departing FAJS bound for Sydney on 16th July, by sheer accident the incident was further highlighted due to the aircraft carrying the South African 'Springboks'Rugby team. Its extremely rare particularly in Perth to get the opportunity to see let alone photograph a B747-400 aircraft carrying a 5th pod, fortunately today was fine & sunny and the above photos speak for themselves.The aircraft departed Perth at 14.34hrs continuing her journey to Johannesburg as QF63.
