Leighton Beach: (Crash Landing)

Michelle Kathryn Yates aged 45 & her 15 year old son Jake both survived after a forced landing at Leighton Beach today just after 5pm (LT) when their Piper PA-28-181 VH-FEY c/n 28-7690006 en-route to Jandakot Airport (YPJT) after flying north to view todays solar eclipse was forced to ditch into the ocean after experiencing mechanical issues. Pilot Michelle was transported to hospital & her son was was treated on the beach by paramedics.
