37years ago (1975) Perth Spotters Aircraft Slide Night
This rare & historical photograph taken in 1975 at the then home of Roger & Jean McDonald's home in Myaree Perth (WA) shows one of the first slide nights hosted in WA.
Several slide nights were hosted by other people including John Chapman prior to this particular evening, with no formal group established until 1982 when Gavin Miller in 1982 seeked permission from the 'World Airline Hobby Club' based in Kentucky USA who produced an informative quartly journal . The 'WAHC' was more about collecting airline memorabilia, everything from slides/photos to postcards, timetables/schedules, models etc.. rather than into spotting & rego collecting!
The WAHC later evolved itself into becoming the Aircraft Enthusiasts Group of Western Australia (AEGWA) which still continues today.
Those present in the above photo are from Left to Right:
Stuart Bremner, Mrs Jean McDonald, UK Spotter friend of Stuart Bremner Sid Nanson, John Chapman, Peter Ricketts, Richard Siudak, Geoff Goodall, Alistair Coutts, Les Anderson, Charlie & Lynn Urwin, with Roger McDonald in the beanbag.
Classic memories, with thanks to John Chapman for finding this classic historical old photo.
This is what plane spotting is all about!

The year was 1981, not 1975, as I was only in WA for that year. Great to see so many old faces again. Used to really enjoy those slide nights, led to a life long obsession!
ReplyDeleteHope everyone is still doing OK
